Insourcing of Clinical Services
HBSUK is a leading NHS insourcing provider, working within your Trust to deliver cost-effective waiting list reduction.

Efficient solutions for NHS waiting lists
At HBSUK, we specialise in delivering comprehensive insourcing services to NHS trusts to reduce waiting lists and improve patient outcomes.
With over 12 years of experience in clinical resourcing, we are one of the UK’s longest-standing insourcing providers, offering ready-made clinical services tailored to your needs.
What is insourcing?
The term ‘Insourcing’ was coined by our founder and chairman, Mark Fountain, over 15 years ago. It refers to the delivery of clinical services within your existing hospital or clinical environment, utilising your facilities, equipment and instrumentation. Although insourcing can take place at any time, it is most commonly scheduled for weekends and evenings to maximise underused capacity.
How does Insourcing Work?
Insourcing offers a fully managed, turnkey clinical service for any speciality, bringing together a complete team of healthcare professionals. At HBSUK, these teams are effectively managed by our experienced Operations Managers to ensure seamless service delivery.
Importantly, insourcing is not the same as temporary staffing or partial team provision, such as agency nurses or locum doctors. Instead, it provides a comprehensive and efficient solution tailored to meet your capacity needs.
Why do I need Insourcing?
When you’ve maximised capacity within existing job plans and additional staff hours, insourcing becomes the next most cost-effective solution—especially if you have unused clinic space, theatres, or beds. While insourcing is often associated with weekends and evenings, HBSUK also offers in-week insourcing services to fully utilise any available capacity.
Moreover, the HBSUK insourcing model consistently proves to be more cost-effective than outsourcing patients to the private sector, delivering efficient and high-quality care within NHS premises.

Craige Wilson
"We have been working with HBSUK for just over 10 months across multiple specialisms including orthopaedics and ophthalmology. This has had a major impact on reducing the backlog of patients that had developed during the pandemic. The HBSUK Team is focused, attentive, experienced, and reliable and I would not hesitate to recommend them to any NHS organisation as a long-term insourcing partner."
Titus Burwell
"I have worked with HBSUK as an NHS Customer in different NHS Trusts using their insourcing and digital support services for the treatment of several thousand NHS patients, including orthopedics and dermatology. I have always found their team to be committed to patient care and service excellence of the highest quality and am sure I will continue to use and recommend their services in support of NHS recovery and transformation."
