Executive Director
HBSUK Founder, Mark chairs the Board and drives the strategic direction of the business. Mark held various CEO, COO and Hospital Director roles in domestic and International Private Healthcare businesses before founding Healthcare Business Solutions (UK) in 2012
Charles Byrne
Managing Director
Charles leads on key client and Consultant relationships. As deputy CEO, Charles also leads on a number of company strategic projects. With a big business background in Manufacturing and MBA qualified, Charles has a wealth and depth of skills he brings to the HBSUK Leadership team.
Charles is also sadly a Liverpool supporter.
Lucy Pittaway
Chief Operating Officer
Lucy has held various Operational Management positions across Acute NHS Trusts managing elective, non-elective and emergency services.
Lucy has a passion for transformation and uses this to drive operational excellence across the business.
Michael Monk
Chief Financial Officer
Michael is a Chartered Accountant and joined as our CFO in 2020. Having trained with accounting firm BDO, Michael has held several senior finance roles across a broad range of sectors.
Alex Nancekievill
Chief Technology Officer
Alex is a seasoned CTO, joining HBSUK from GE Healthcare in 2020 and leading Product Development of the HBSUK Digital Triage Platform – Virtual Lucy™
Mark Emerton
Chief Medical Officer
Mark is an orthopaedic surgeon in Leeds. As clinical director he established the elective orthopaedic unit in Leeds and subsequently held national roles at the NHS Institute in both quality improvement and patient safety.
He is passionate about improving access for patients and the quality and value of elective services.
Lucy Cassidy
Director of Products and Services
Lucy, an advanced practice physiotherapist by background and pioneer of virtual fracture clinics for the NHS, leads on Product Management for the company. Lucy has been pivotal in developing the HBSUK Digital Triage Platform – Virtual Lucy™.
Lucy was named one of the UK’s top 50 influential tech leaders in 2022.
Penny Vera
Chief Nurse & Governance Officer
A mental health nurse by background, Penny joined HBSUK in March 2023 to continue our journey from Compliance to Excellence – the ‘E’ in our EPIC Values
